Personality Traits

The Big Five personality traits—Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism—are a well-established framework to describe key dimensions of human personality. These traits capture the broad patterns of how people think, feel, and behave. Each trait exists on a continuum, meaning people can score high or low on each one, resulting in a unique personality profile. Importantly, these traits are linked to significant life outcomes, such as career success, relationship satisfaction, and overall well-being. Understanding your own personality traits can help you gain insight into the ways you approach various aspects of your life.

Each of these traits plays a role in how you experience the world and make decisions.

Vocational Interests

Vocational interests refer to a person’s preferences for certain types of work activities and environments. These interests can help guide individuals towards careers that are fulfilling and motivating for them. By knowing about their preferences, people can better understand what types of jobs or fields they might enjoy. For instance, someone who enjoys working with their hands might be drawn to more hands-on fields like mechanics or construction, while someone who enjoys working with people may be more interested in teaching or healthcare roles. The free survey offered on this website helps you discover where your own vocational interests lie by exploring these different dimensions.

The survey you’ll take is based on the well-established RIASEC model, which stands for Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional interests. This model helps categorize work activities into broader themes, making it easier to identify career paths that match your interests. Whether you prefer solving problems, working outdoors, creating art, helping others, or organizing information, this survey will guide you to the most suitable career fields. These insights can lead you toward fulfilling roles that align with what you naturally enjoy and excel at.

Once you complete the survey, you’ll receive feedback showing your score on different interest areas and examples of careers that match those preferences. This personalized report can be the first step in your journey toward a more satisfying career. Whether you’re just starting out or thinking about a career change, understanding your vocational interests can help point you in the right direction. Social, Emotional, and Behavioral Skills

The Behavioral, Emotional, and Social Skills Inventory (BESSI) is a tool designed to assess social, emotional, and behavioral skills (SEB skills). It assesses five main skill domains, offering a broad overview of an individual’s abilities: Self-Management, Social Engagement, Cooperation, Emotional Resilience, and Innovation.

Within these five domains, the BESSI assesses 32 specific skill facets.

How does BESSI work?

The BESSI employs a skill inventory approach, where each item describes a particular behavior related to SEB skills. Individuals (or observers, if rating someone else) assess how effectively they perform these behaviors. These ratings are then averaged to provide scores across the five major skill domains and 32 specific facets.

How can you complete the BESSI?

You can access the BESSI online through the survey links. The full version, which takes around 20 minutes, offers feedback on 32 specific skills across the five main domains. Alternatively, the shortened BESSI-45 takes approximately 5 minutes and focuses solely on the five broad skill domains.

What versions of the BESSI are available?

Several versions of the BESSI are available, differing in detail, item count, and time required for completion. The BESSI can be administered either through self-report or observer-report formats, allowing individuals to evaluate themselves or others, such as students or coworkers. Links are available below.
